Summer roundup…Thursday, 18 September 2014
Goodness me, September already!
Normality has resumed in the studio- I’ve returned from our summer jaunts and the girls have gone back to school. We’ve had a fantastic summer holiday- packed full of adventures!
I headed to Edinburgh International Book Festival at the beginning of August, and was lucky enough to run a workshop with lots of excited and enthusiastic Mungo fans- big and small! It was great to meet so many people and to see them enjoying the new Mungo story- “Mungo The Monkey Goes To School”. Perfect timing for little ones embarking on their very first school day!
I also was lucky enough to be invited to be part of the Children’s Festival of Stories festival at Calderstones Mansion in Liverpool, organised by The Reader Organisation. I joined other authors including Cathy Cassidy and Andy Mulligan to take my turn in “The Author Den” meeting lots of lovely people and doing some live drawing. The organisers kindly took me on a tour of the house- even down in the spooky cellars! I really loved it, and love the fact that they want to give the building a new lease of life (which is currently in a bit of a sorry state!)
I also took a trip to the seaside with my two girls, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Lots of icecream, fish and chips and playing on the beach- what fun!
I’m very excited that this month sees the release of Julia Donaldson’s new book “Princess Mirror-Belle and the Dragon Pox” which I have illustrated (available now!). Lots more exciting projects in the pipeline at the moment- keep your eyes peeled for more info soon!
